MY STORY
Several years ago, when I lost my first fifty pounds on Ideal Protein, I recognized how life-changing it was to feel healthy again. The clouds of hopelessness lifted, and I felt happy and free. I opened a weight loss clinic because I wanted to share this joy with the rest of the world. I lost another thirty pounds and pronounced that we really could eat as much as we wanted if we ate the right stuff. My whiteboard read

If you want to be truly beautiful, you must fall in love with vegetables.

The beautiful I was referring to was the beauty of a new reality. That you feel amazing from the inside out. That you have confidence and peace of mind knowing you are doing everything you can to take care of yourself and feed your body well. And that beauty goes beyond what you eat. When you feel good, you do more. You love more. You have more to share. Those early years were some of the best of my life, as I discovered a version of me that had been dying to get out.
But I took this new sense of well-being for granted. With my newfound sense of freedom and confidence, I became more social. Soon I was indulging in convenience foods and activities that included ‘fun food.’ I didn't see it then, but I was being robbed again of my health and happiness. I developed new bad habits and the foods in my clinic became my mindless snacks and sometimes short term solutions for quick weight loss. Once I regained a good share of my weight, I could never persist long enough on my weight loss program to make a meaningful difference in my life.
